The Ola Grimsby Institute is an internationally recognized consortium of physical therapists and physicians dedicated to helping clinicians expand the practice of orthopedic manual physical therapy based on clinical expertise and the most current understanding of the human neuro-musculo-skeletal systems.

The Institute believes that a physical therapist’s competence is developed through the pursuit of active learning in two domains:

  • Knowledge – Integrating a thorough understanding of anatomy, physiology and biomechanical function with the process of clinical reasoning, analysis, diagnosis and decision-making.
  • Practice – Extensive hands-on experience with patients to achieve the advanced manual skills for assessment and intervention of movement dysfunction.

The Institute provides ongoing professional education programs that include Clinical Certifications, Doctoral Degree residency programs (DPT, DMT), Fellowship Certification, and clinical specialization Ph.D. programs in Orthopedic Manual Therapy.

As a degree-granting institution, the broad goal of the research program is to provide the profession with evidence-based information necessary to support the future development of physical therapy and manual therapy.
